So President Obams is struggling to win over the country to his plans for universal healthcare....no surprises there then. Glad to see he's not caving in, rather fighting hard to prevail, in the interests of the 1 in 6 Americans who are without healthcare insurance.
I'm struck by a couple of stats on the subject:
1. Since 2002 the profits of the top 10 health insurance companies have increased by 428 %. ( source: Harper's magazine ).
2. CNN estimates that $375m has so far been spent by both sides lobbying for and against the proposed reform.
I deplore both of these statistics.
