I'm not surprised that they do. After all, materia is all we can be certain of and we need materialistic stuff in order to survive. Ideals on the other hand are fleeting and doesn't necessarily make for a better life. I would just appreciate if people could be upfront about it, instead of hiding behind their imaginary friend.

In the sense that the gods are real for their followers, I can agree with you. But a hallucination is only that, real for the one experiencing it, but doesn't exist outside of the person. So yeah, I say borrowed
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human.
