Yes they are, I have witnessed one such marriage in the making and heard of numerous other cases in my neighbourhood. The parents think that his is what they "should" do and brainwash their daughters into the whole mindset long before they actually happen to find the guy. In Poland women start dating very early because they know that by the time they are 25 it is all over. Then they get their arranged marriage and you can see by the look on their face they are NOT happy. Then they continue feeling unhappy and inadequate until they go completely nuts later on.
After Poland freed itself from communism we had a brief period of liberty in the early 1990s, more like free love and a lot of optimism. But then the church took over and slowly gained power - now it is very powerful in spite of strong resistance from intellectuals etc. And then the financial hysteria came which erased the last traces of logical thinking and brought us where we are today. It would be difficult to eradicate arranged marriage now because women themselves are brainwashed into believing it is "better" from them. They only discover the truth AFTER getting married.
