There is actually a minimum number of individuals a species must have if it is to survive. Below that and it is likely to become extinct. I thought it was as low as 1,000 but now it looks to be estimated at 5,000 or so.

That all depends on the environment. In the case of a species that is part of the food chain, there may not be enough to survive depletion. In the case of a new species, it is not yet an integral part of the food chain and the predators may be few to none initially which presents a whole new thriving scenario.

As you are a christian, one assumes that you believe in the babble-book in which there is a story of two humans thriving and also a family thriving and what of the animals on the ark. That was well below your 1000-5000.

From what I have heard, Adam and Eve were only the propagators of the Caucasian race at most, at least according to a study I heard about but it of course could not explicitly call the ancestors Adam and Eve.

The Flood story was only in reference to the cultures that experienced the deluge in the Black Sea some eight thousand years ago.
