Don't get me wrong, I don't agree with anything on the Republican platform, but Romney is a centrist, too. If him winning the election can bring the Republican party back from the brink of insanity and turn them from the crazy party that's talking about legitimate rape into a reasonable party that I may still disagree with, I'm all for it. I worry that if Romney looses, which seems pretty likely according to most polls, in the next election the Republicans will nominate some far right whack-job, he'll win and he'll drag the Republican party even further to the right.
I don't think Romney has exhibited enough spine to stand up to his own party, even if he is elected.
Yeah, honestly, it's really hard to tell that. It will also be hard to tell how he'll respond when/if the Democrats take back congress; will he be spineless then, and let them fix what Bush fucked up and what Obama has been damn low about fixing? Or will he suddenly grow spine and stand up for the millionaires when we want them to pay an extra 2% on their taxes?
I could probably get a better idea of what Romney in charge would be like if I looked up what his governorship of Mass was like. Candidates have to flip flop a lot to win elections, so it's really damn near impossible to tell where they really stand on the issues.
