I think it's because many times we want too much. The perfect love life, the perfect sex life, the perfect social life. They're all illusions. I've never met a "perfect" person, we're all humans, flawed, sometimes boring, sometimes annoying, sometimes even shitheads.
The trick is to understand that this applies to everyone (including you, gentle reader, and the smartass who wrote this message), stop chasing a dream, accept people for what they are, and have fun. Then sooner or later you'll find someone.
He or she won't be perfect, but they'll be a real person.
And maybe, if you're lucky, you'll realise that you finally found someone that you want to share some times with.
