I don't even know what science acting as a religion even means, quite frankly. Religions rely on the fact that their tenets, dogma, 'teachings' etc are fixed and unchanging. Science is constantly moving and changing as it finds new things to discover. While people can become dogmatic about science to the point where it can seem like worship, that only weakens the definition of "worship" such that football, Star Trek and money become religions.
