Predictability? Isn`t that in essence an answere?
Why does the sun go arround the earth? The gravitational force of the sun which has more matter and therefor a bigger gravitational attraction holds the planet in it`s orbit, whilest it`s interaction with the centrifugal force, prevents the planet from leaving this orbit. The planets which themselves have matter also attract the sun which is why under observation the sun seems to "wobble arround" - because it rotates arround various points called the "Barry center".
The theory given for the answere might be a model based on what was observed and calculated, and therefor can be predicted. But in essence it gives a clear answere.
