Somehow our sense of tolerance has gotten so warped and twisted that we are willing to throw out all our values to appease a culture that itself is one of the most intolerant things ever. I think this comes from the self-reflective and extremely self-critical way that we teach history. We've made ourselves into the bad guys in a historical sense, therefore our whole psyche has come to view ourselves as deserving bad things that happen. We deserve 9/11 because we have bases in Saudi Arabia, we deserve our Embassy being bombed because of a movie, we provoked it, we are evil.

These things are ground into our heads from the time we are young. Fuck all of that.
