That reminds me a great deal of what my brother (PhD in mathematics, ~16-17 years older than me) discussed with me in an hour long phone discussion. Anyway, the fact that there are people who deny that .9^ = 1 (other than myself) is to state that it is not universally agreed upon (one of the earlier points).
Anyway, i think that Adrian and others understand that the burden of proof is on those trying to prove... and so that is what they are doing. But I've yet to see a proof I accept.
An interesting thing to try... get 1 to equal .9^. I thought to show this approach to Adian's first proof, but decided against it. I don't remember why ... hmm...
