I personally cant describe why i feel good when i do good things, its like i cant describe why music makes me feel good. Helping a woman carry things off a bus, giving my easter and christmas chocolates to homeless people, helping out people in work it all feels good to me.
Why this happens in evolutionary terms is obvious, sort of. ive read some of the books by richard dawkins and he basically says groups of people who have a godo mix of helping each other and helping themselves and punish criminals will be successful tribes, survive breed and evolve.
It wouldnt help a group of humans for everyone to be over helpful because then a greedy tribe could come along take advantage and take over, it wouldnt help a tribe for everyone to be greedy because then no one would help each other or want to work or do anything.
This seems like a good explanation to me, and it explains why i feel good inside doing good things as a part of my natural instinct.
I still dont understand why i instinctively also feel the need to pat my cat on the head and be kind to my cat, i havent looked into it but the being kind to other humans part makes sense to me.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
