Even if you look back only a century ago you can find so many absurdities regarding e.g. medicine and psychology, so why do you think that men some thousands of years ago are suddenly any wiser?
As for the Bible itself, what makes it so much more special than the Vedas, the Quaran, the Torah, the Kalevala, the Eddur, the Tipitaka, the Kojiki und so weiter?
