It might be more accurate to say that there are parts that are nice. Jesus whole message of compassion, brotherhood, charity and general kindness, yeah, those all sound good. Then, if you finally turn a critical eye on the Bible, you see some of the stuff that's either just absurd or horribly barbaric.

In the end, the Bible and religion are just like any other man made tool: it's only as good or as bad as the person using it.
