In a nutshell for you Al:
Biology
You don't just have to take the claims of science textbooks on faith. You can repeat experiments, get the same results and you can even pursue a degree in Zoology (or any other science field) to learn in detail about all the evidence and the reasons science has concluded what it has.
Theology
You do have to take the claims of religious scripture on faith. There are no repeatable experiments, you can't reproduce miracles and you can even pursue a degree in Theology and learn absolutely nothing new because there is no evidence and there are no reasons to believe what religion claims to be true.
