Wow. I signed up to this forum believing I was going to have some intelligent conversation. This is the first post I look at and the only sensible replies are coming from those defending Muslims. The rest of you are like a bunch of 10 year olds bitching about something you know very little about. I thought atheists claimed to be the 'rational' ones? Well maybe you should start acting like it. I hate to sound like your mothers but honestly you deserve it. Grow up.

A group of religious figures in Saudi Arabia have threatened to strike the labor minister who seeks to create jobs for women with “deadly prayers.” They threatened to pray that he gets cancer like his predecessor Ghazi al-Gosaibi, who died of the disease in 2010.

During a meeting at the labor ministry on Tuesday, about 200 religious figures accused Minister Adel Fakeih of executing a “Westernization” plan and asked him to ban women from working in lingerie shops within a month or he will face their dangerous prayers.

An example of intolerance, mysogyny and superstition based on Islamic teachings.

Are you surprised that sometimes our "rational" side finds this exasperating?

Are you surprised that the constant attempts by theists of all stripes to drag us back to the 14th Century illicits some choice phrases?

Hi I can promise I didn't come here to be offended, and incidentally I'm not offended. I was commenting on the way people were commenting, not on their opinions. I agree we are all human and yes even intelligent and rational people must become exasperated, frustrated and emotional occasionally. However, I was surprised that this article prompted that reaction. After all these were not teachings of Islam but moreso over-conservative socio-political views with Islam as an excuse. You don't need to do much research or know much about Islam to realise that. Secondly, to atheists this was surely more laughable than worrying? They were going to pray the guy to death?! Even to many Muslims that sounds rather silly.
