Why would a creator necessitate god? I mean isn't it just as likely that this creator is a mad scientist with no supernatural powers whatsoever?

I honestly don't understand the argument that the universe needs a creator therefore the creator must be a god. It seems like a logical fallacy to me, either a false dilemma or a non sequitur. Perhaps even both. I'm not sure tbh.
Sorry if this has already been mentioned btw, this is quite a long thread.
