There also was a guy who would spend the entire day on his balcony with a hunting rifle, shooting animals who would walk across his property.
Both ended in prison for a while. But the rational behind the sentences was that the animals were someone elses property. I honestly dont know the rational behind prohibiting animal cruelty. I would simply have to say that inflicting pain on animals simply feels wrong.
