My 'act' of sex or act of using plastic affects others, too, but it's an act, and so it should have an effect. There's no reason personal beliefs should be affecting anyone, other than the individual who believes.
Their belief doesn't affect you unless they act upon it. You have a personal belief when it comes to sex and plastic.
