From the perspective of theistic evolution, a person is designed to emerge out of the evolutionary chain. The fact that they are created by God gives them their rights and sense of self respect which is grafted into them psychologically and their eyes are opened to recognize that they are different from animals. From the perspective of naturalistic evolution, I really do not see any way to value a human more than an amoeba.
