While I am of the belief that there is only a 50-50 chance that our universe had a creator/designer, I personally found the most scientifically appealing possibility coming from the ideas of Nikolai Kardashev, the Deputy Director at Russian Space Research Institute. Dr. Kardashev came up with a scale that he called (not surprisingly) the Kardashev Scale, which was meant to classify civilizations. His view of the most advanced type of civilization (Type V) is that said civilization could actually transcend their universe of origin and could actually custom build new universes.
