A friend of mine saw "The Bridge" and it gave him nightmares. I saw it, and was like - are you serious, how did it give you nightmares, but I understand that even non-graphic depictions of death can be as upsetting as graphic depictions to some people, so maybe he shouldn't have watched the movie in the first place!
Well, everyone has emotional triggers that vary all over the place. I myself suffer from post-traumatic stress, and can be triggered by some things that many might find a little odd. I can perhaps see where your friend is coming from, and yeah' avoiding something that would trigger nightmares might be the best thing.
