I didn't know so many people died everyday, i remember in the song "don't fear the reaper" it was "40 000 men and women everyday"
Yes, but that song was written how long ago? Considering the drastic rise in the Earth's population over the past few decades, it's perfectly feasible that there were only 40,000 deaths per day in 1976. Or maybe the other 210,000 didn't qualify as "men and women" because they were the children that just didn't get prayed for hard enough...
Yeah, I'm inlined to agree with the OP on this. I had an emergency appendectomy a couple of weeks ago, and I'm while they respect my non-belief enough to not bring it up, I'm sure my family thinks God had a hand in me getting to the hospital in time. But if anyone deserves thanks, it's the coworker who convinced me to let her take me to the hospital after I'd been having abdominal cramps all day, or those responsible for the efficiency of said hospital so that I was taken care of right away and thus already about to have my MRI when my appendix ruptured instead of sitting in a chair waiting to be processed, or the doctors who were nonetheless able to remove it via laparascopy instead of an incision so that I was only out of work for two weeks instead of two months.
If anything, I'd say God would be worthy of thanks if humans didn't have things like an appendix, tonsils, wisdom teeth, etc. in the first place...or at the very least if such things didn't have the potential to cause life-threating health problems.
