I'm largely apolitical these days. I still vote, though - I rarely get involved in anything resembling activism these days. Why? For much the same reason that you see movements like Occupy. Outrage. Thing is, outrage raises my blood pressure and causes bad things to happen, and as an individual peon voice in this country doesn't mean a goddamn thing, I find I happier and healthier as an observer.
As for my core beliefs, I value individual liberty and empathy and compassion for my fellow man, in balance. Government should first and foremost be concerned with the welfare and liberty of individual common persons. My personal viewpoint borrows from civil libertarians, a bit from socialism and elsewhere.
