I am a Republican, left libertarian, Christian conservative, to some degree, non-doctrinaire libertarian socialist (libertarian in the sense of free, socialist in the sense that I think capitalism should be replaced with some other form of ownership, financing, education, organization that should reflect institutionalized concerns of economic equality and democracy, as well as spiritual concerns). I am an environmentalist, against nuclear weapons, pro peace and pro military pragmatist regarding foreign policy. I am against abortion. I am skeptical of the use of reason as a means to achieve political ends in a theoretical context (the labor theory of value anyone?) and accept much of the conservative epistemological outlook. I consider myself to be a feminist but am against the goal of trying to remove all distinctions between men and women.
I am an advocate of free education to achieve economic equality and redistribution of wealth. I am skeptical of taxation as a means to mediate virtue. I am interested in the political philosophers Alaisdair MacIntyre, Russell Kirk and the political philosophy of the Bible. I agree substantially with MacIntyre critique of modernity, though I have not studied it as much as I should. I am skeptical of political correctness and all forms of bullshit.
I am a firm believe in a no bullshit approach to political discernment that says, before anything else, POLITICS IS ABOUT POWER. POLITICS IS ABOUT POWER. POLITICS IS ABOUT POWER.
You guys are questioning me about whether atheism is predominately a left wing movement and 60% of the people in this thread are to the left of the democratic party...
