I actually think hip hop/rap will probably be remembered more than emo music, if we're talking about musical stereotypes. I thought it was more memorable and influential. I think by the 00's rock music ceased to really be primetime radio material.
A lot of 'new age' rappers came about in this period, eminem, 50 cent etc. I certainly saw more of an influence from these guys than emo music.
Speaking of faddy clothing habits, was this not also the cause of the rise in wearing your trousers (that's pants for yanks) hanging halfway down you're arse crack in teenagers?
