No. No microscopes means no sperm. Some place in that sticky stuff was a seed. That the word is both singular and plural in English does not change the original usage.
This was an agrarian analogy. The woman was the soil. The better the seed the better the crop. The better the soil the better the crop.
When Jesus talks about good seed in good soil he is telling a dirty joke. The punch line doesn't translate well.

Do not berate the folks in the past for ignoring such things.
Over the years I have seen untold hundreds of soft core bondage scenes on TV and in the movies. Only once in some anime episode of some did they run to the bathroom after being untied. And there it was two women, one got into the bathroom and the other was pounding on the door to be let in. It was played for a laugh instead of for realism.
