Why do feminists have such a bad reputation?

If being a man isn't a privilege, how come men don't have to worry (usually) about being raped? How come men get higher pay? How come they are "head of the household"? We don't want to "be men" or "be like men", we want all peoples to be equal in consideration as individuals. None of this "you're a woman so you ought to stay home and take care of the kids" bullshit. None of this "you're a woman so you have to wear high heels".

(And vice-versa, by the way, guys - let your freak flag fly, as far as I'm concerned. Wear pink, wear heels, and do what makes you happy. I'm just arguing as a female because I am one, and because that's how this started, but I'm an egalitarian.)
