Is psychiatry evil?

Psychiatry has no moral claim either way; it's neither good nor evil.

What good does psychiatry promote?

A tool and method for treating mental illness; it's a human science. Albeit neuroscience is a natural science ("Bottom-up"), based on biology and chemistry, psychiatry is "top-down." I think psychiatry will be based off of neuroscience in the future. They'll "meet" somewhere in the middle with neuroscience having a way more accurate model of the brain, and psychiatry having a way better methodology to treat mental illness based on that model.

Better models we get of the brain, better will psychiatry be able to treat mental illness.

It's essentially a pseudo-science based on subjective reasoning and judgments.

The difference between pseudo-science and science is that the latter works and testable so. Bitches.
