If I had to pick a favourite band, it would be Nine Inch Nails. To be honest I was CRAZY into NIN for 2 or 3 years, then dropped off for a year and have just recently started listening to NIN songs again.
Now I'm all over the map, listening to whats new, to old stuff I never got around to listening to, etc. I guess alt-rock and classic rock would be the genres I listen to most, if you feel the need to pigeon-hole like that.
Recently, I've been all over the new Puscifer EP, and trying to like the Them Crooked Vultures album.
