To condense OP, I think the best could be said that there would come a competing theory and explanation for the fossil record, genetics, et. al. I'm all ears that would supersede current evolution theory. However, evolution is a fact, we're just trying our best to model a theory that explains the fact of what we call "evolution", which is the fossil record, genetics, and so on.
