Would theists become atheists if we found lifeform

Animals run on instinct. Science says so. But scientists are doing research into whether or not they have self-awareness.
An animal, in most cases, can only make the choice that will increase its chances of surviving and reproducing. Humans aren't bound by this. We can decide to give money to the poor, or shield women from shooters. We can also decide not to.
Animals seem to make choices, but in the end, they are bound to the one that can objectively be seen as the best.
