If I'm going to be super honest with myself and others such as yourself, I'd have to say that I have certain insecurities that draw me to places such as ReasonableFaith forums and here. I desperately want people to like me. I want my word to mean something to them. I want to be respected... and so I will conduct myself in such a way as I perceive I ought to act in order to gain respect. Then, perhaps, fruitful dialogue will come much easier.

I don't have that same desperate need to feel accepted by others. However, what I do find interesting is that people are oftentimes willing to sacrifice their values in order to do so. Relationships is a classic example of this - and I don't mind the fact that men and women may compromise on their expectations or "standards", but I find it quite disturbing when they allow their core values and beliefs to be sacrificed.

In one sense I am close-minded; at least insofar as it is true that I very much doubt that my views on fundamental theistic concepts will change. In another sense, I'd like to consider myself as being open-minded, having recently come to accept the theory of evolution as an adequate explanation of cosmic and biological complexity.(though I hold this belief loosely as I'm basically taking "modern science's" word for it)

I think it's pathetic that Evolutionists think they're better than those who don't believe in the theory. And mostly the reason I think this is because some people have no interest in science, nor do they understand scientific principles, etc, and therefore asserting that they should believe in a certain scientific theory - which they don't understand - is quite nonsensical. With that said, I find the anti-evolutionist "creationists" types to be quite deluded.
