Part of the difference is that Bigfoot, if it exists, is merely a zoological mystery. Religion, OTOH, not only claims to be true but many of its adherents insist on the right to cram their beliefs down other people's throats.
I've never yet heard a Bigfoot proponent argue that it should be taught in science classes.
Valid point and while a lot of Christians do cram their beliefs down others throats and want it taught in some schools, I think we can all agree that it's not only Christians who do that or religion and it's on an individual basis. I personally don't agree with forcing your views on anyone, sometimes though people want help in finding a view of their own.
