It's kind of like you are blaming the victim here. I just think he's yet another poor sap that was fucked over from the get go.

To a certain extent, maybe. But he's here and being faced with evidence to the contrary, and instead of actually looking at evidence to find the truth, he sticks his fingers in his ears and ignores anything which contradicts his religion. It's one thing to be brainwashed from birth, it's another thing to stay willfully ignorant.
