I was going to queue this but I think now is better. Christians pick and choose their morality from the Bible - they have to; the people who follow the Bible literally are in jail. The anti-homosexual crowd claim they are following Biblical morals but are they really? If they can pick and choose and call themselves Biblical, so can I.
Biblical precept one: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (Matthew 7:12). Why won't I condemn gays? Because it's not Biblical. If I were gay I would not want to be judged (Matthew 7:1) and would expect the right that straight people have to marry whom they are attracted to, to be extended to me as well. After all, God causes everything to be and we have no control over what he wills us to do (Romans 9:11-22) (By the way, I don't personally believe that last part, but if you call yourself a Christian, that bit of theology is just as valid as Pat Robertson's).
Furthermore, if God caused and causes everything to come into being (Genesis 1:1, Isaiah 46:10), even gays and liberals, are you not also commanded to keep up with our ever-expanding knowledge about God's universe (Proverbs 23:12)? If science and inquiry discover that gays are indeed born gay (as they indubitably have) are you going to thwart God's plan? Do you know better than God who knows all? (Jeremiah 23:23-24)
It is very difficult for a Christian to believe in a god that causes all things, commands us to love one another (Mark 12:31), and still be anti-gay. The theological position I have explained above is just as valid, if not more so, than that of any other self-described Christian out there. Can you be pro-gay and still call yourself Christian? You bet your Bible you can.
