The whole slavery bit was, itself, about political power (and wealth). How disappointing eh? I've heard a bunch of weird ass shit of late, about states rights and taxes...im guessing the southerners round these parts are tailoring their cultural history/identity to fit their current reality...lol. Similarly, I've heard that the north went to war to end slavery - it did not-, nor was the abolition of slavery without much benefit to those who undertook it. They sure as shit didn't do it for any slaves - who continued to be treated like...well..slaves - in the north-and- south for a very long time.
Two sides in the wrong on the majority of issues, but one in the right about 1 issue, which happened to win - and now that's all we connect with the concept of the Civil War. History and victors..lol.
