Or not. You can always be thin skinned.
You keep saying that Texas has faults and that people that all the people that live there should answer for them. What you haven't done is show why that is or why anybody should care as much as you.
I've listed things I like about Texas, none of which have anything to do with the things that bother you so much, as far as I can tell (mexican food, sports teams, lakes, southern beach, family, The Atheist Experience....etc).
I would say that there are some things that I don't like about living in Texas, like the 80+ consecutive 3 digit temerature summers...
No casinos in Dallas...
I wish they had Hardee's cheeseburgers....

I just like going there for reasons uneffected by your personal contempt for it. Lastly, what rights or wrongs should I be atoning for exactly? I think your anger is seriously misguided.
If I walk up to a group of Christians bashing Atheism, and anounce that i'm a proud Atheist, I would not be surprised if they began to tell me how awful Atheism is and ridicule me for being proud of it. They may even bring up that Jeffrey Dahmer was an Atheist, or Hitler for that matter. They could tell me how immoral I must be for not sharing their belief. None of that would be at all relevant to my being an Atheist or why I value it. Nor would any of it imply that I'm dumb or immoral.
How exactly, is what some of you are saying, any different than that? Tsk tsk...
