Quote: Can't the god that created the universe and all mankind do something a little more substantial than bring back to life one guy?Yes.
The Bible tells us the death and resurection of Christ repersents the fact that Christ has conquored death for all of us, and can indeed offer us eternal life.
Quote: It's not like he hadn't done it before with other people (someone in 1 Samuel was resurrected, right?) Hell, even Jesus resurrected Lazarus. What is different is that even after they were resurrected they did die again, while Christ and the resurection He offers us is eternal.
Quote:It's stated in the OT that god froze the sun and moon in the sky for 24 hours so that Joshua could have all the time he needed to slaughter the people he was after. Isn't that a little more substantial than resurrecting one guy?Is stoppong the earth for 24 hours more substantial that offering the entire population of the planet (past present and future) eternal life? Honestly... I don't know what was involved for either, but if I had to guess I would say not.
Quote:And for that matter, why did Jesus resurrect himself? The bible tells us the resurrection was a confirmation of the prophesy and promises He made as God the Son.
Quote: He stayed a few weeks with his apostles, then left them and went into Heaven. Why wouldn't he stay and show to the entire world that he came back to life? Why would he need to stay any longer than He did? He told the Apstoles that when He left, the Holy Spirit would be poured out onto the church which would allow them to perform the miricals He was able to do. This is what the church needed then, more than the personal embodyment of God.
Quote: Why stay hidden after coming back to life, then leave? WTF?Again so that the Holy Spirit of God could personally indewell each and every person, rather than each and every person Goto God, God (Holy Spirit) went in and among the people.
Quote:And he promised that his second coming would be in the lifetimes of the apostles.No. He promised the this 'generation' would not pass away before He returned. The greek word used can mean an 'generation' as we understand it to mean, but it is also used to describe an entire people. Meaning the Jews as a people would not pass away until his return.
Quote:Jesus' "resurrection" is no big deal for a supreme being to pull off, and doesn't make any sense when you look at the facts. Christianity is BS.Maybe, the 'resurection' goes a little deeper than what you understand it to mean.
