It's estimated that that the Ku Klux Klan has between 5,000 - 8,000 members. Should we not worry about them either? Because the impression that I seem to be getting is that we don't have to worry about hate groups as long as they have low numbers. Everyone seems to be getting caught up on black vs white but let me put a little perspective on things.
New Black Panther Party: Anti-white, anti-semitic, anti-gay
Nation of Islam: Anti-white, anti-semitic, anti-gay
Ku Klux Klan: Anti-black, anti-semitic, anti-gay
Aryan Nation: Anti-black, anti-semitic, anti-gay
You know, all in all, they seem pretty similar to me.
As a white dude, I have the privilege of being able to denounce my whiteness and other white people. And trust me, I really love hating on other white people. But are we really going to refuse to extend that privilege to the black community? It really doesn't matter if it makes sense or not for them to do so, they should have the right to criticize black people the same as I would criticize white people.

It is a traditionally left wing concept to trash black conservatives as sell outs which to me has an implication of greater racism than many liberals believe they are capable of. To say that a black man is an Uncle Tom because his views don't match up with those of the majority of black people is to insinuate that black people are incapable of individual thought and only capable of being part of a hive mind. I've even heard libs say that they are not REAL black people. What's a real black person? !?! Seriously?!?! And to take the point further I have heard that exact same argument used against Log Cabin Republicans.
Except, the left-wing position is more nuanced than "black people who deviate from most black people are not real black people". Black people who favor the Republican party are not confusing because they are not part of some hive-think. They are confusing because conservatives in this country have been the driving force behind every single attempt to discriminate, disenfranchise, enslave, belittle and segregate. Conservatives represent nothing which is of benefit to any person who is not rich and white. Conservatives accept black people as equal human beings only begrudgingly. So yeah, it makes no sense why any black person in America would ever vote for people who make little effort to hide the fact that they are black people's worst political enemies and it is not racist to question the motives behind this behavior.
But, then again, it's kind of hard to imagine why anybody who isn't part of the rich, white plutocracy would ever vote for candidates who care only for the interests of the rich, white plutocracy. They understand this, which is why the GOP platform appeals to screaming racist working-class whites such as A Theist.
