I believe Brian was referring to "Poe's Law," which states that it is impossible to differentiate between a fundamentalist and a parody of a fundamentalist without the inclusion of a smiley or some other obvious sign that it is a parody. These days, the term "Poe" gets thrown around as a synonym for someone online pretending to religious views that they do not hold, such as a fundamentalist posing as an atheist. Such people are loosely referred to as 'Poes'.
I differ from the typical atheist in response to these questions, beyond the fact that I am religious, but don't feel like composing a substantive response. If you are interested in a serious discussion of these questions, I suggest you start a thread on the topic outside of the introduction section of the forum. Special etiquette applies to intro threads, and that your question is posed here may lead to it being ignored by many users who, seeing the thread type, assume it does not contain discussion about substantive matters. (You may also request the moderators move or split the thread, with or without retitling, so that the substantive discussion is more readily recognized and contributed to by others.)
Welcome, and good luck.
