John - I am not enabling. Nice try though. This is not a black and white world as far as we know, just because i think nagging is stupid does not mean I am enabling.
He could stop for a year if he wanted to. Or until his meds are better. But like I just said, which you seem to think is so irrelevant, he has not been doing much anyway. So what's the point?

And if you're more worried about his thought pattern combined with usage - only he truly knows that pattern for sure. And if he is, say, drinking when he becomes sad, yeah the drinking is not great but what is making him sad and how he can deal with it are more relevant. Obviously, if he reaches alcoholic status he'd have to give up booze, but I don't see it. And I excluded pot intentionally.
