Consider the global flood. IIRC it took decades for Noah to build the ark. God was slow to anger, but the people didn't respect him despite the warning.

Why even threaten people with a global flood? You say he waited decades for the ark but he was already committing to the flood. That's like a father threatening a child with a severe nose breaking beating but allows him some time to prepare for it. That to you is "loving"?
So the part where those psalms mention a loving god is null and void once you read the rest of it and see the atrocities he had committed. If I told you a neighbor of mine was a nice and kind man and then proceeded to tell you that he beats his wife and children, gets pissy with neighbors, and generally doesn't keep a nice household, you would easily see the contradiction. How come you cannot see that with your god?
