Your friend should read the passages as they are written, they say Jesus turn the water into the finest of wines and that meant it had alcohol in it. The one giving the party said to Him, after the people become intoxicated we use a lesser quality wine, because they do not know the difference in the taste, or maybe they just didn't care what it taste like.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
