I find I get no feeling of exercising when I work on an elliptical, it's an exercise in controlling the momentum of the machine, IMO.

I'm getting to be that way more and more, but then again winters 'round these parts are fairly miserable (cold and rainy) so I end up having to move running to a treadmill inside which sucks ass. The weather just turned in the last two or three weeks so I haven't been able to get outside to run, like, at all. Today and this week are looking clear so I hoping to suit up and go out for at least a walk at lunchtime.
I was planning on pre-training in Ocotober, November and December so that when half-marathon training rolls around in January I can work on speed training but with the crappy weather and my loathing for running on treadmills I'm wondering if I'll even get there. My pre-training goal was 4-miles easy running (I took the summer off), now I'm back to huffin' it doing 2-miles.At least I'm cross-training, but it's not running.
Ah, well, lesson learned: don't take summers off.
lol yes, sometimes a painful lesson. I also agree about the eliptical...i think it sucks

My goal is to run in a 5k race, which I shall be doing next year. I much prefer running indoors, lets me keep perfect track of my times, weather is never an issue and it can be done at any time of the day.
Middle of month January: 15 mins @ 7k (damn was I unfit)
End of month January: 20 mins @ 7k
End of month February: 25 mins @ 7k (Injury this month [hyperextended toe])
End of month March: 29 mins @ 7k
End of month April: 30 mins @ 7.8km/h
End of month May: 30 mins @ 8.3km/h (Injury this month [blisters])
End of month June: 30 mins @ 9.3 km/h
18/7/13 = running 5km for the first time, done at 10km/h
End of month July: 10.2km/h for 5km = 29.24 mins
End of month August: 10.7km/h for 5km = 28:02 mins
End of month September: 11.8km/h for 5km = 25:25 mins
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, that's excellent!
