Marriage is merely another institution exploited by greedy moneymakers.

As far as religion is concerned in relation to marriage, religion no more owns a monopoly on marriage than it does to Christmas being the birth date of Jesus. God never has to enter into the equation as far as marriage is concerned, which is why couples can marry outside of the church institution whereby god has no part in the ceremony whatsoever.
