Why is it that so much credit is posited on these writings?
So someone wrote something about a Jesus fellow somewhere in the first century... so what?
In the early 21st century someone wrote about a fellow called Harry Potter, who lived in a very real city... does that make him real?
You know why Jesus is so often compared to Harry Pottery?
- writings concerning both claim they possessed magical powers.
- writings concerning both are from some 3rd person, witnessing, but not taking part... or not taking a relevant part.
- writings concerning both have references to actual real places, from the time they were written.
- writings concerning both claim the fulfillment of some prophecy.
My point being... just because someone wrote about the guy, doesn't mean the guy actually existed.
Even if the guy existed, it doesn't mean the guy did half of what's written about him...
Even if the guy did do some amazing things, it doesn't mean there was a god pulling the strings.
Finally, if the guy did some extraordinary things at that particular place, at that particular time (with all the dead rising and all), how come most of the population remained jew?
