Hearing the Velvet Underground marked a decisive break in my listening habits and the sorts of bands I began checking out as a result. As I look at my music collection, I'm struck by how much really good music I might never have heard (that might never have been made) if it weren't for Lou Reed.

RIP, Uncle Lou.
