I always find this quite curious that this seems to be a constant. I have numerous questions about this.
1) Why not attack other scientific theories, like relativity or gravity or plate tectonics?
2) Do theists think evolution is somehow weaker?
3) Is it more strongly related to the fact that loud-mouth fundamentalists have been doing it since Darwin, so they just keep going?
4) How does it logically follow that if evolution is false, that religion must be true?
5) How would one disprove evolution? (with science or religion?)
Along that line I have wondered for years why creationism is such a line in the sand for them? After all, their godboy spent precious little time allegedly talking about creation but did spend a fuckload of time driving out demons.
Why are they not insisting that "Demon Driving" be added to med school curricula?
I suspect it comes down to a god of the gaps problem. Medicine has made great strides in recent years and people see that their science works...and keeps them alive. Creationism seeks to capitalize on the perception that The Big Bang is difficult to comprehend and moreover does not have an immediate impact on anyone's life.
The gap in this case, is between the ears of the creationist.
