When I was practicing Christianity, I could separate my faith from science, no problem. I found it over time though, a lot harder to substantiate my faith in light of science. Faith has nothing to do with facts, otherwise it wouldn't be called faith. In dissecting the Bible bit by bit, I came to the conclusion that I couldn't keep following something at worst, that was a lie or at best, was little more than watered down fables passed down through the centuries
The thing about religion is that it prevents freedom of thought which is why many theists have a hard time thinking outside of their religions. Religion requires obedience not based on anything factual. It is sad but true when you see theists more comfortable with fiction than with fact. If you cannot prove something through a scientific process, it's not that it isn't true, it just can't be called fact. The Bible is not factual, but theists will support it as if it is.
They will try to refute fact to support their faith, which isn't based on fact.
I don't find that funny, it's downright sad.
