This is like saying that "generalizing" among the KKK is wrong because one can pick out a KKK member that has done something good in his life.
Is it wrong to say "I hate the fucking racist KKK" because there might be a helpful member or two amongst their ranks?
It is correct to generalize when we are referring to the movement called christianity, otherwise we couldn't ever say a thing about it because it is so fragmented and slightly different to each and every deluded individual. It is understood that there may be exceptions.
Athiesm is not a movement, it is simply a base, "unconvinced of god" state. One could call some of the online atheist groups a movement of sorts, but not in the manner that chistianity is a movement. Therefore to generalize about atheists is to commit a fallacy. To generalize about the christian movement is not.
